SBA certification renewal and annual review

8(a) annual review, certification examinations and SAM renewal follow different schedules. Use the dates in your official records to create reminders here.

ProgramReview or renewal schedule
8(a)Annual review and continuing eligibility within the limited program term.
WOSB / EDWOSBThree-year examination framework; later examinations can affect dates. Annual attestation currently in abeyance, checked 8 Oct 2026.
HUBZoneRecertification every three years; the date may be aligned with another certification. Workforce requirements depend on recent HUBZone awards.
VetCertThree-year eligibility period, subject to official extensions. Changes affecting eligibility must be reported.
SAMSeparate registration renewal every 365 days.

HUBZone and VetCert rules describe a 90-day period before expiry for recertification. WOSB has its own examination and recertification provisions, so check the action and date in your notice. Reinstatement after decertification does not mean a business remained eligible throughout the gap.

Submitting a renewal in MySBA

In MySBA, open Manage Certifications → Renewal. Select the relevant programs, answer the current eligibility questions and provide the requested documents, then sign and submit. If you used a previous platform, you may need to complete Business Information first. The SBA renewal user guide ↗ warns about submitting a second renewal, so check all program selections before submitting.

For 8(a), follow the separate SBA 8(a) annual review guide ↗. Complete any contributor tasks and finish with signing and submission. A saved draft or worksheet leaves that final step unfinished.

Changes to ownership, management or operations

A change in ownership, control, office location or workforce can affect eligibility between scheduled reviews. Check the program’s notice requirements when a change occurs, and respond to SBA examination requests. A calendar reminder covers the date, not these ongoing duties.

Dates and source checks

We checked the rules on 8 October against consolidated text available through 6 October. Temporary instructions, including the WOSB attestation position, can change. The planner flags source or record checks older than 30 days as a prompt to check again; that interval is our review policy, not an SBA requirement.
